…but I still like the design of the Vodaphone Head Office in Portugal designed by architects José António Barbosa and Pedro Guimarães of Barbosa Guimarães Arquitectos. It’s beautiful and futuristic.

Apples on the Wall

CHC desgined a library feature wall using the new Apple iPad. With the features of the iPad and customizable applications, there are a lot of things you can do on this wall. “Interchangeable wallpaper patterns and videos are just the beginning, but imaging a giant jigsaw that you can play using multitouch, an interactive aquarium scene, digital graffiti, interactive speaker wall, even a life sized digital bookcase for your iBooks.” Okay, admittedly I wasn’t that excited about the iPad but this is an interesting way of using them. I like it and I like the design of the wall; you know how parts of it jet out.

Riverhouse Niagra is a single-family home designed by Zerafa Architecture Studio in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The extensive use of Western Red Cedar for decking, wall cladding and soffit cladding was integral to our design, and the inherent flexibility, cost effectiveness and durability of cedar made it the obvious choice for this project, in this location. The relative material richness of the design called for the varied tonality and texture that cedar provides.

Gnädinger Architects finished the Otto Block Building. So okay it’s nap time for me but I decided to get some blogging in so enjoy this cuz I’m not summarizing it (cuz you were really going to read it anyways). I do like it by the way, don’t get the wrong impression; just enjoy it.

The building was designed for the Otto Bock Health Care company, a world leader in prosthetics and orthotics. The organic-dynamic design of the six-storey building is based on the principles of nature – as a model of harmony between technology and people. The facade bands have modeled the structure of muscle fibers that encircle the building structure in soft form. The “soft” appearance, combined with a unique facade media production, is an open, friendly and accessible institution, and thus contributes to the image building of the company.

I’m just admiring the design, let Juxtapoz tell you about it:

Meet Urban Forest. Set for construction in Chongqing, China, this design feat has been produced by MAD Architects.

Drawing upon the mountainous landscape of the country, this commercial high-rise building is made up of curved, abstract-shaped floors, which have been stacked slightly off-center. Connected by a core cylindrical structure, each level’s interior is protected by full-length glass windows with a see-through, wrap around balcony.

The effect is stunning, and makes the floors appear as if they are floating on top of one another. A great way to bring some nature into a bustling urban environment.

I don’t know, there’s just someting about. It’s not that you want to, you have to stop and stare. Being built out of glass and metal gives the 10,000 sq. ft. surface of the Daewon Park Observatory a futuristic look. I love it. You can thank the Kyungam Architects for bringing us this wonder.

Don’t tell me that’s not how you spell beautiful. =P

The YAS Hotel, designed by Asymptote Architecture, in Abu Dhabi is amazingly beautiful; it has a curvilinear grid-shell that’s covered with over 5,300 diamond-shaped steel panels, containing nearly 5000 LED fixtures is being announced as the world’s largest LED project controlled through RDM (Remote Device Management). New York based lighting designers Arup Lighting worked with Germany based e:cue lighting control to create lighting effects like the color-changing light sequences, playing customized three dimensional low-resolution video content, on the grid-shell.
